Bullock
Professional works with digital photographers to establish settings at the
camera that will yield high quality photographic prints with our printers.
If shot correctly, you shouldn't need to waste time adjusting images in
Photoshop or other software before sending digital camera files to the lab.
If your camera settings are correct, Bullock Professional individually video
analyzes your digital camera files for proper color and density so you don't
need to.
Bullock Professional recommends a digicam test to
establish the proper settings for our photographic printers. Once these
settings are established, they can be used to insure the best in color,
saturation, and resolution when ordering real photographs from
our lab.
See the general instructions on the right for
shooting an image for your 24x36
Digital Camera Test ( just $9.75).

STARTING CAMERA SETTINGS
Before shooting an important job, we recommend shooting a
test image for DigiCam Test Print. This test print- exposed and
developed on real photo paper will illustrate to you what size,
sharpening, quality, and color you can expect from your camera's settings.
-
Use ISO 200 (We recommend using the lowest ISO
possible. Higher ISO settings will increase digital "noise" in the
final enlarged images much like higher speed film creates grain.
-
Set the camera resolution
to the highest JPEG quality (ex: JPG Extra Fine)
White Balance for "Flash 5400K
or Daylight" . You
should use the flash setting whenever you are in the studio under
studio lights. [ Note: When not using studio lighting at weddings
etc., set WB to "Auto".]
Image Sharpening: Normal
Tone Compensation: Normal
Color Mode: sRGB
Hue Adjustment: 0 (default
setting)
Record these settings so you will always know how
your camera was set for the test print.
Setup for a vertical head and shoulders shot in the
studio under studio lighting.
Be sure camera is critically focused and the
exposure is perfect.
Take ONE shot of the subject at these settings and
copy it directly to a CD. (Do Not open or manipulate the file in any
way before sending.)
In your BPRocs, go to the
Originals Catalog and choose the 'DigiCam Test' tab. Drag & center your
image on the photograph.
We will print
a 24x36 genuine photograph that shows the center strip of your image in
30x40, 24x30, 20x24, 16x20, 11x14, 8x10, and 5x7 print size.
When your DigiCam Test
photograph is returned, you can determine what size, color, and quality
these settings will yield when sending images to Bullock Professional
for genuine photographic prints.
Once you receive and review
your DigiCam Test photograph, call Bullock if your image's quality is
not to your liking. Further tests may be necessary, however we're 100%
confident that we can help you make the necessary settings changes to
yield the results you're looking for.
Important - Once these
settings are established it is very important that you do not make
changes unless you run another Digital Camera Test photograph and verify the
new settings will yield a satisfactory result!
